Valerio De Stefano is a Full Professor of Law and Canada Research Chair in Innovation Law and Society at Osgoode Hall Law School (York University). He previously held the BOF-ZAP Research Professor of Labour Law at KU Leuven (2017-2021) and has been a visiting academic at UCL, University of Cambridge, Saint Louis University Law School, and University of Melbourne.
- Education: LLB, MSc in Law, and PhD from Bocconi University (Milan)
His research focuses on Labour Law, Employment Law, Law and Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Law, Algorithmic Management, and International/Comparative Labour Law. He has published extensively on platform work, AI in the workplace, and worker classification.
Grants and Awards: Recipient of the Odysseus Grant (€880,000), Horizon2020 Grant, KU Leuven Service to Society Award (2020), York Research Award (2023), and Osgoode Teaching Award (2024).
Editorial Roles: General Editor of the Comparative Labor Law & Policy Journal since 2024; Editorial Adviser for the International Labour Review.
Consulting: Advised the International Labour Office, European Parliament, Eurofound, and EU Commission on AI regulation and platform work.
