Valeria Zanier, PhD (Ca’ Foscari), is a Lecturer in Contemporary Chinese Studies at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). Her research focuses on business history and transnational relations between Europe and China, particularly during the Cold War era. She has co-edited major works such as Europe and China in the Cold War (Brill, 2018) and contributed to special issues analyzing economic and cultural exchanges between Western Europe and Socialist China in the mid-20th century.
Her academic contributions include studies on the Sino-Soviet alliance’s economic dimensions and the role of business associations in post-WWII Europe-China relations. Zanier’s work bridges historical analysis with geopolitical contexts, emphasizing transnational networks and diplomatic strategies beyond Cold War bloc divisions.
Her recent projects explore the economic aspects of the Sino-Soviet alliance and business interest groups in transnational relations, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary historical research.
