Valeria Russo is a Research Fellow at the Department of Humanities of Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where she focuses on medieval literary studies and critical editions. She is also affiliated with the Département de Français at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) as co-PI of the MEDLUNI project, supervised by Cristiano Lorenzi and Marion Uhlig.
- Education: BA in Modern Literature (University of Rome La Sapienza, 2011–2014), MA in Études Médiévales (Sorbonne University, 2016), PhD in Medieval Studies (University of Padua, 2016–2020).
Russo's research explores the intersection of medieval universities and vernacular secular literature in France and Italy (13th–14th centuries), with a focus on critical editions of works like Jean Mansel's Fleur des Histoires and the Venetian translation of Bonincontro de' Bovi's chronicle of the Peace of Venice. She has taught at universities in Italy, France, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, and is a research associate at the EA 4349 laboratory ('Studies and Editions of Medieval Texts') at Sorbonne University – Lettres.
Scientific Awards include the Doctor Europaeus, the SLLMOO Thesis Prize, and a Maria Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship. She has contributed to the AGRELITA and At the Crossroads of Memories ERC projects and serves on the editorial board of the journal Polythesis: Philology, Interpretation, and Theory of Literature.
