Valeria Franceschi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Verona, specializing in English Language, Translation and Linguistics (ANGL-01/C) with research focus on Pragmatics, sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, and discourse analysis (SH4_11).
Her research centers on English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), investigating plurilingual phenomena, Business English as a Lingua Franca (BELF), and communication strategies in international contexts across business, academia, and digital media. She applies corpus-based methodologies to analyze language patterns and contributes to English Language Teaching (ELT) methodology development. As a member of the Research group on Anglophone Studies, she examines English varieties and American culture through the IPERSTORIA journal.
Dr. Franceschi holds significant institutional responsibilities including Chair of the Scientific Committee for the Professional Improvement Course in 'English for the world of work,' Referent for Communication and Third Mission, and membership on multiple committees including the Communication and Community Engagement Committee and Internationalisation Committee. She teaches core English language courses across multiple degree programs including Bachelor's degrees in Foreign Languages and Literatures and Languages and Cultures for Tourism and International Commerce, as well as specialized Master's level courses in Linguistics and Languages for Communication in Tourism and Commerce.
