Valentina Zigante

Valentina Zigante is a Researcher at the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She holds a PhD from Lund University (2013) and an MSc in Economics from Lund University. Prior to joining LSE, she worked as a Lecturer in Comparative Social Policy at the University of Bristol and held roles at UNDP Croatia and Eurofound researching wellbeing and quality of life. Her key expertise spans Econometrics, Health Care, Long-Term Care, and Social Policy.

Her research focuses on adult social care innovations, user and carer experiences, and the financing of social care. Notable projects include analyzing care provision through ESHCRU and QORU units, and investigating the impact of choice policies in European healthcare systems. She has also contributed to studies on informal care dynamics in England and the role of new technologies in long-term care modernization.

Recent work emphasizes organizational strategies for scaling care innovations and exploring financial entitlement frameworks for LTC. Her articles highlight trends in healthcare privatization, consumer choice effects, and the interplay between formal and informal care systems. She has published widely on healthcare equity, policy reforms, and the socio-economic determinants of wellbeing in Europe.

Valentina’s work bridges econometric analysis with policy evaluation, particularly in aging populations and long-term care sustainability. She actively collaborates with EU institutions and contributes to evidence-based policy design for equitable healthcare systems.
