Valentina Dutta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University's Mellon College of Science. She specializes in high-energy physics experiments focused on discovering physics beyond the Standard Model, particularly Supersymmetry and dark matter.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2014)
- B.A. in Physics and Mathematics, Boston University (2007)
Her research integrates machine learning techniques with experimental data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX). She co-leads the CMS collaboration's Supersymmetry search group and contributes to sub-GeV dark matter detection initiatives.
Recent Work Trends: Recent publications emphasize searches for Supersymmetric particles (tau and top quark partners), Higgs boson decay analysis, and detector technology advancements for LDMX. Machine learning applications for improving experimental sensitivity are a recurring theme.
