Valentina Dutina (b. 1966) is a composer, music pedagogue, and performer holding the rank of full professor at the Music Academy of the University of East Sarajevo. She teaches in the Department of Theoretical Teaching, Church Music and Singing, and the Department of Piano, specializing in harmony, composition, and music methodology. She founded the vocal ensemble Rusalka (1998) and led the church choir of St. Bishop Nikolaj Žički, producing over 200 concerts across BiH, Serbia, Montenegro, and Russia. Her creative work spans orchestral, choral, and children's music, with compositions performed regionally and recorded on CDs and media.
Education: Graduated in composition from the Sarajevo Music Academy (1991) and earned a master’s degree at the East Sarajevo Music Academy (2004) with thesis Rusticon, a three-movement orchestral work. Professional roles include vice-dean for artistic/scientific research at the UIS Music Academy (2006–2015) and collaborations with post-production companies for commercials and documentaries.
Research focuses on folk music transposition, pedagogical methods in harmony, and interdisciplinary links between music and poetry. Notable works include the CD recordings Rasti, rasti moj zeleni bore (2006) and The White Villa is Growing (2020), and academic publications like Analytical Presentation of a Musical Work through the Prism of Dynamics (2019).
