Valentina Desideri

Valentina Desideri is a Provostial & CRACS Postdoctoral Fellow at New York University's Department of Spanish and Portuguese, a researcher at CAPIm at the Royal Academy of the Arts, and an affiliated researcher at the Centre for Theatre Studies at Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa). She holds a PhD in Race, Gender, Sexuality, and Social Justice from the University of British Columbia, an MFA from the Sandberg Institute (Amsterdam), and a BA in Dance-Theatre from Laban (London).

Her work explores artmaking as a form of study and vice versa, focusing on political representations and non-extractive infrastructures. She co-organizes the Performing Arts Forum in northern France and leads projects like the online platform EhChO.org. Collaborations include work with Denise Ferreira da Silva and Stefano Harney, as well as performances with Fake Therapy and Political Therapy.

Her current research centers on her doctoral dissertation, Studio Practice: Experiments in Objectless and Objectiveless Artmaking, and she actively engages in initiatives such as Sensing Salons and Reading with Echo.
