Vaidas Šeferis

Vaidas Šeferis serves as Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Linguistics and Baltic Studies at Masaryk University's Faculty of Arts in Brno, Czech Republic. His academic career is deeply rooted in Baltic Studies with a particular focus on Lithuanian literature and cultural history. He is actively involved in the academic community as a member of the Industry Council for General Linguistics and serves on the Program Boards for Baltic Studies (both bachelor's and master's degrees) as well as Vietnamese Studies (bachelor's degree).

Šeferis specializes in Baltic linguistics, Lithuanian literary history, and cross-cultural relations between Czech and Lithuanian academic communities. His research prominently features the works of Kristijonas Donelaitis, Lithuania's national poet, with particular attention to textual analysis, historical context, and literary reconstruction. He has made significant contributions to understanding the cohesion of Donelaitis's seminal work 'The Seasons' and has explored German-Lithuanian literary connections extensively.
