V. Trikalitis is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Twente's Faculty of Engineering Technology, Department of Biomechanical Engineering, affiliated with the Neuromuscular Robotics group (ET-BE-NR) and TechMed Centre. He currently works in Massimo Sartori's Neuromechanical Modelling & Engineering Lab on the ROBOREACTOR project, developing robotic bioreactors for skeletal muscle rehabilitation through muscle-robot fusion.
His research integrates Tissue Engineering, Biomechanics, and 3D Printing with deep expertise in hydrogel chemistry, growth factors (particularly Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor), vascularization, and granular materials. This interdisciplinary work bridges biochemistry, molecular biology, and robotics to create biomimetic solutions for human physiology.
Prior academic roles include PhD studies and researcher position at the Vascularization Lab under Prof. J. Rouwkema, and research at Fraunhofer's Advanced Manufacturing, Sustainable products & Energy systems (AMSPES) lab with Prof. I. Gibson and Prof. C. Goulas. He also has 7 years of industry experience as Product Developer Specialist at IamFluidics B.V., commercializing dissolvable cell carriers from concept to market.
