Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Werner serves as Professor of Electrical Drive Technology and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Technology at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. He leads the Laboratory for Electrical Machines and Plants (EMA) and maintains office hours by appointment at Columbusstraße 21, Bremerhaven.
His research concentrates on integrated energy systems with specialization in hydrogen-based microgrids, sector-coupled energy generation, and large-scale electrolysis infrastructure. Key projects include the H2-Microgrid initiative for green hydrogen production, IWAS-Lune Delta for industrial park microgrid solutions, and 100MWEL for identifying high-capacity electrolyzer sites in urban environments. His work bridges electrical engineering with practical renewable energy applications.
He instructs core engineering programs including Ship Operations Technology, Energy Management in Buildings, Industrial Plant and Energy Technology, and Marine Engineering.
No scientific awards were documented in the source material.
While no student advisees are listed, his leadership in major applied research projects demonstrates active supervision of technical teams. Current initiatives focus on hydrogen storage integration, grid stability solutions, and infrastructure planning for decarbonized energy systems in port environments.
The EMA laboratory under his direction specializes in electrical machine testing, drive system optimization, and real-world validation of renewable energy conversion technologies for maritime and industrial applications.
