Utpal Banerjee is a Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with joint appointments in the Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology and the Department of Biological Chemistry. He serves as Co-Director of the UCLA Broad Stem Cell Research Center and has pioneered research using Drosophila as a model for hematopoiesis and signal transduction.
