Prof. Dr. Ute Luig serves as a Professor at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology within the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the Free University of Berlin. Her academic work focuses on anthropological studies of Cambodia with interdisciplinary connections to memory studies and environmental humanities.
Her research examines the interplay between cultural memory practices, sacred geographical spaces, and community responses to natural disasters in Cambodian contexts. This includes investigations into how historical trauma is processed through spatial and ritual frameworks amid ecological challenges.
