Ushashi Dasgupta is an Associate Professor and Jonathan and Julia Aisbitt Fellow and Tutor in English at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. Their research focuses on 19th-century fiction, particularly intersections of literature with space, architecture, and global reading histories. They co-lead the Rent Cultures Network, funded by TORCH, exploring housing crises and rental dynamics in the Victorian era. They teach Victorian literature, spatial studies, and world literature at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Teaching: Supervises DPhil and Masters students, teaches Prelims Papers 1B/3/4, FHS Paper 5, and offers C-Course options on 19th-century urban culture. Gives lectures on Victorian literature, detective fiction, and Jane Austen.
Awards/Projects: Served as Dickens Society Trustee (2021–2024), editorial board member of Dickens Quarterly. Current projects include a book on re-reading practices and research on 19th-century housing disasters.
