Ursula Smith is a Professor of Cello and Senior Tutor for Strings Chamber Music at London's Guildhall School of Music & Drama since 2011. She is a globally renowned chamber musician and former member of the Zehetmair Quartet (2006–2012), known for groundbreaking performances and recordings such as Bartók's Fifth Quartet (Diapason d’Or 2007). Currently, she is a cellist with the Fitzwilliam Quartet. Her teaching emphasizes individualized strategies, focusing on posture, practice mindfulness, and fostering independent musical expression. She holds a Master’s Degree from Yale University as a Fulbright Scholar, under mentors like Ralph Kirshbaum and György Kurtág.
