Prof. Ursula Damm is a Professor at the Faculty of Media, Department of Media Art and Design at Bauhaus University Weimar. Her work bridges sculpture with media-based exploration of living environments and interactive spaces, focusing on socio-technological interactions between humans, animals, and organisms through computer science and biocybernetic paradigms. Her artistic research emphasizes redefining organizational forms and cultural-philosophical frameworks.
Since 1985, she has exhibited widely, including solo shows at the Goethe House New York (1992) and NRW K20 (2005), and participated in festivals like Ars Electronica (1999), Cyberarts (2006), and Sensing Place (2012). Her works are featured in the Ludwig Museum Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate’s collections, and HEK Basel.
She holds fellowships from Cité des Arts Paris and institutions in Marseille, Milan, New York, Helsinki, and Rotterdam. In 2014, she was a guest artist at UCSD’s Visual Arts Department. The PhyChip Project, supported by the EU’s FP7 program, highlights her interdisciplinary research.
