Uros Cvoro

Associate Professor Uros Cvoro is a scholar in Art Theory and Associate Dean Graduate Research at UNSW Sydney's College of Arts, Design & Architecture. His research focuses on conflict aesthetics, post-conflict art, and cultural representations of national identity, particularly in Balkan and former Yugoslav contexts. He leads ARC Linkage Projects such as the 2023-2026 'Art of Peace' initiative exploring visual art’s role in peacekeeping, and the 2018-2021 'Art in Conflict' project analyzing wartime artistic responses.

His research interests span post-conflict monuments, transitional aesthetics, and the interplay between humor and geopolitical tensions. Supervision includes PhD candidates exploring topics like Soviet mysticism in film, counter-monuments and decoloniality, and VR in humanities education. Cvoro’s work bridges art theory with critical analyses of political and historical contexts, emphasizing how artists navigate trauma, memory, and identity formation in divided societies.
