Uri Simonsohn is a Professor in the Department of Operations, Information & Decisions (OIDD) at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His research bridges psychology and economics, focusing on human judgment, decision-making processes, and research methodology. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Universidad Católica de Chile and a PhD in Social and Decision Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University.
Professor Simonsohn is renowned for coining the term 'p-hacking' and advocating for research transparency. He serves as an associate editor of Management Science, a reviewing editor for Science, and sits on editorial boards of journals like Journal of Marketing Research and Journal of Behavioral Decision Making. He teaches decision-making courses to undergraduates, MBAs, and PhD students, emphasizing data interpretation and behavioral change strategies.
He co-founded the pre-registration platform AsPredicted and co-hosts the blog DataColada.org, which critiques research practices and promotes methodological rigor. His work highlights the need for pre-registration, critiques Bayesian approaches in addressing replication crises, and warns against harmful meta-analytic practices.
