Professor Gurun's research centers on empirical asset pricing, corporate finance, and the economics of innovation. His work investigates how financial media bias, advertising, social networks, and fraud influence asset prices and investor behavior. He has made significant contributions to understanding patent litigation, green innovation, ESG investing, and corporate disclosure practices. His research often combines large-scale data analysis with rigorous econometric methods to uncover market inefficiencies.
The most recent publications reflect a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, particularly in the areas of green patenting and ESG-innovation disconnect. Earlier work explores media bias, mutual fund behavior, and fraud spillovers. Collectively, his articles reveal a trajectory from market microstructure and investor behavior toward broader themes of innovation policy and sustainable finance.
