Prof. Ulrike Steinhäuser is a Professor of Food Chemistry and Food Analysis at Beuth University of Applied Sciences, Berlin. She leads the Laboratory for Analysis of Food and Consumer Goods (ALB) within the Department V - Life Science and Technology. Her academic career includes a PhD from Technical University of Berlin (1995–1997) on sensory and analytical investigation of instant coffee production. Prior to academia, she worked at Deutsche Extrakt Kaffee GmbH (1997–2004) in quality research.
Education:
- Studied Chemistry at Technical University of Dresden (1988–1991)
- Main studies in Food Chemistry at TU Dresden, earning a diploma and 1st State Exam (1991–1993)
- 2nd State Exam via internship at TU Berlin and ILAT (1993–1994)
Research Interests: Focuses on food analysis methodologies, sensory evaluation in food production, and quality control. Her expertise spans instrumental analysis techniques and their application to food technology challenges. She teaches courses such as Chemical Fundamentals of Food Technology and Applied Food Analysis.
Labs/Teams: Heads the ALB laboratory, dedicated to analytical and sensory research in food and consumer goods.
