Ulrik Röijezon is a Professor in Physiotherapy at Luleå University of Technology's Department of Health, Education and Technology within the College of Health, Medicine and Rehabilitation. His research focuses on sensorimotor control, particularly in chronic neck pain, aging, and elite motor performance among musicians and athletes.
- Developed a movement science laboratory for 3D motion analysis, muscle activation studies, and balance disturbance experiments
- Collaborates with MedTech company Curest on VR-based clinical applications
Research Themes include:
- Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation: Sensorimotor disturbances in neck pain and extremity injuries
- Neurosciences: Motor control mechanisms and CNS adaptation to balance disturbances
- Geriatrics: Postural stability and fall prevention in older adults
- Sports Medicine: Proprioceptive fatigue effects in athletes
Publication Trends show increasing integration of VR technology for clinical assessments, with recent works spanning cervical movement validity studies (2023-2024), shoulder proprioception analysis in handball players (2024), and cognitive-motor interactions in elderly mobility (2024).
Teaching Contributions cover functional anatomy, biomechanics, and clinical movement analysis. He supervises students at all academic levels and contributes to international physiotherapy textbooks including Grieve’s Modern Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Motorisk kontroll och inlärning.
Innovation Efforts focus on digital health technologies for home-based movement assessments, particularly through VR solutions developed with Curest.
Popular Science Engagement includes public lectures and articles explaining proprioception and sensorimotor control, with notable presentations during his professorship installation and collaborations with MedTech companies.
