Ulrich Maiwald is a Professor of Language and Performative Arts at Alanus University’s Department of Educational Science. His work integrates theatre pedagogy, speech design, and Waldorf educational principles. He has extensive experience in Waldorf schools, public institutions, and cultural venues, emphasizing performative arts’ role in education. Maiwald has led over 100 theater projects with diverse groups and contributed to teacher training programs nationwide.
Education: Studied Speech Design and Acting at Alanus University (1988–1992). Advanced training includes studies with prominent figures like Gian Andrea Scarello (Commedia dell’Arte) and Thomas Braus (acting techniques).
Research Interests: Focuses on language development in childhood education, inclusive pedagogy for special needs students, and the application of performative arts in curricula. His work often bridges artistic expression with educational theory, particularly within Waldorf frameworks.
Artistic Work: Maintains an active artistic career, including performances at the Blade Museum Solingen and international collaborations. Notable productions include scenic collages on Rilke and Morgenstern, and roles in classic plays like Peer Gynt and King Lear.
Professional Engagement: Long-term board member of the BVSS professional association. Advises companies on body language and speech expression. Founded the ensemble ‘Spielwut’ and led workshops at the Paderborn Summer University.
