Prof. Dr. Uğur Abakay is a faculty member at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Sports. With a career spanning over two decades, he has held roles including Professor (2022–present), Associate Professor (2016–2022), and Assistant Professor (2010–2016). His research focuses on exercise psychology, psychosocial aspects of sports, and traditional Turkish sports.

Scientific awards include editorial board memberships for journals like International Journal of Advances in Sport Management and Gaziantep University Journal of Sports Sciences. He has supervised 35+ theses and led projects on sports ethics, fitness programs, and youth development.
Abakay has contributed to international symposiums, including the International Artemis Congress and Balkan Symposium in Sport Science. His administrative roles include Chair of the Department of Physical Education and Sports (2022–present) and Deputy Director of Gaziantep University School (2011–2017).
