Türkan ŞAHİN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Midwifery at Adıyaman University Faculty of Health Sciences. She has been serving in this position since March 4, 2020, following previous roles as Assistant Professor at Adıyaman University School of Health (2019-2020) and Lecturer at both Adıyaman University School of Health (2006-2019) and Inonu University Adiyaman Health College (2000-2006).
Her educational background includes a Specialist Nurse degree from Atatürk University (1995), a Public Health degree from Firat University Health Sciences Institute (2012), and a Doctorate in Public Health (Medicine) from Erciyes University Institute of Health Sciences (2018).
Dr. ŞAHİN's research interests focus on maternal and child health, obesity epidemiology, breastfeeding practices, postpartum care, and women's health. Her work often examines health behaviors, risk factors, and interventions in Southeastern Turkey's population. She has published extensively on topics including obesity in children and women of reproductive age, traditional postpartum practices, breastfeeding support, and health education interventions.
Her recent publications show a clear trend toward investigating obesity patterns across different age groups, examining psychological factors in health behaviors, and developing educational interventions for improved maternal and child health outcomes. She has also expanded her research to include digital health approaches, as evidenced by her work on web-based interviews with adolescents with diabetes.

Dr. ŞAHİN has participated in multiple national research projects including studies on obesity prevalence in elementary school children, breastfeeding support training for family health workers, and preparation of birth education classrooms. She has served in various administrative roles including Erasmus Midwifery Department Coordinator and Academic Incentive Preliminary Review Committee Member. Her conference participation spans numerous national and international nursing, midwifery, and public health events where she has presented both oral and poster presentations.
