Tyson L Pankey is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. He holds dual roles as Vice-Chair for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Clinical Science Departments (since 2024). His academic background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (2019). Pankey's research focuses on mental health equity, LGBTQ+ affirming care, and reducing healthcare disparities through culturally responsive practices. He has published extensively on integrated behavioral health models, stigma reduction, and telepsychology innovations.
Key research areas include: 1) improving access to mental health services for marginalized populations, 2) designing inclusive clinical trial protocols for sexual and gender minorities, and 3) addressing racial bias in healthcare delivery.
