Tyson Brown is Professor of Sociology and Medicine at Duke University, holding joint appointments in Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and the Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy. His research examines structural racism as a fundamental driver of health inequities, developing novel methodologies to quantify systemic discrimination across economic, educational, and political domains.
He directs multigenerational studies on Alzheimer's disparities and cardiovascular outcomes among cancer survivors through NIH-funded projects. Articles demonstrate consistent focus on connecting structural racism to biological embodiment of health risks, with innovations in policy-relevant measurement frameworks.
