Dr. Tuyen Bujnicki leads the SuFIDA Innovation Lab at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, affiliated with the Institute of Biological Information Processes (IBI-7: Structural Biochemistry). The lab focuses on developing surface-based fluorescence immuno digital assays (SuFIDA) for high-sensitivity quantification of low-abundance analytes, surpassing conventional ELISA methods.
SuFIDA combines sandwich immunoassay principles with single-molecule fluorescence microscopy, enabling digital readouts linear over 4–5 orders of magnitude with femtomolar sensitivity. This technology targets medical diagnostics and biopharmaceutical quality control, particularly for detecting autoantibodies in neurological diseases.
The lab collaborates with institutions like Charité Berlin, DZNE Berlin, attyloid GmbH, and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. It emphasizes industry partnerships, technology transfer, and training for students in advanced analytical methods.
AG Bujnicki’s multidisciplinary team includes experts in protein biochemistry, structural biology, and automated imaging systems. The lab is supported by an industry advisory board and aims to commercialize SuFIDA for widespread diagnostic applications.
