Tuomas Siitonen is a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture, while concurrently pursuing a doctoral degree there. He holds a Master’s in Architecture (2006, Helsinki University of Technology) and two degrees in Arts and Design from Helsinki University of Arts and Design (BA 1999, MA 2003). His research focuses on architectural history, exhibition design, and sustainable design practices, with notable projects exploring 1970s Finnish architecture and cultural identity. He has been recognized with awards such as the 2023 Special Prize for 'Leikki – the Museum of Play' and Teacher of the Year (2018).
Siitonen’s work bridges academic research and public engagement through exhibitions like 'Betoniunelmia' (2023), which critically reinterprets mid-century architecture. His media appearances include MTV3’s Grand Designs Finland (2023) and articles in Arkkitehti magazine. He actively participates in academic activities, including invited lectures at international institutions and panel discussions on sustainability in architecture. His research emphasizes the intersection of built environments and cultural narratives, often involving collaborative projects with museums and educational institutions.
