Tuomas Sahlsten is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Helsinki. His research focuses on geometric measure theory, metric geometry, quantum chaos, and Fourier analysis. He is a supervisor in the Doctoral Programme in Mathematics and Statistics. Sahlsten has held visiting positions at institutions such as the University of St Andrews and the University of Cambridge. He leads several Academy of Finland-funded projects, including 'Quantum chaos of large and many body systems' (2023–2027). His work bridges mathematical physics and pure mathematics, with contributions to fractal geometry, spectral theory, and dynamical systems.
Research Interests: Analysis on manifolds, metric geometry, quasiconformal mappings, p-harmonic functions, quantum chaos, geometric measure theory, and Fourier transforms in fractal contexts.
Projects: Active grants include Academy Research Fellow projects focusing on quantum chaos in large systems (2023–2027). Recent collaborations involve studies on Eisenstein series, parabolic dynamics, and self-conformal sets.
Professional Activities: Organized conferences such as 'Bridging the physics and mathematics of Quantum Many-Body Chaos' (2024). Engaged in academic visits and hosting researchers in geometric analysis.
