Tsuyoshi Hirata

Tsuyoshi Hirata is a Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellow at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), hosted by Prof. Johann Plank. He is affiliated with Nippon Shokubai Co., where he has specialized in polymer research for construction materials since 1981. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. from Hokkaido University (2010), focusing on polycarboxylate-type superplasticizers for concrete.

Research focuses on polymer synthesis, water-soluble polymers, and concrete additives, particularly superplasticizers. Key contributions include the design of polycarboxylate-based superplasticizers recognized by the Hans Kühl Medal (2013) and Kondo-Daimon Award (2006).
