Tsung Chi is a Professor in the Department of Politics at Occidental College. He received his B.A. from National Chengchi University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Michigan State University, and has been appointed since 1991. His office is located in Johnson Hall 311, with office hours on Tuesdays & Thursdays 11:30-12:15.

His research focuses on democratization in China and Taiwan, China-Taiwan relations, and Asian-American politics. He served as a visiting scholar at Stanford University's Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (2006-07) to study Taiwan's democratization. He is currently working on a book comparing East Asian politics.
His recent publication East Asian Americans and Political Participation (2005) explores trends in civic engagement among Asian-American communities. The work intersects fields like political participation, comparative politics, and minority political behavior.
Tsung Chi has been frequently interviewed by major media outlets including the New York Times and Chinese-language newspapers/TV/radio stations. He teaches courses in comparative politics, East Asian politics, Chinese politics, and research methodology.
