Troy Bickham is a Professor of History and Director of the Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research at Texas A&M University, holding the Susanne M. and Melbern G. Glasscock Director’s Chair. He joined Texas A&M in 2003 and served at its Qatar campus from 2009–2019 before returning to the Department of History. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
Education: D.Phil., University of Oxford (2001).
Research Interests: Focus on the Atlantic World, British Empire, early American history, and the intersection of war and society. Current projects include mapping news dissemination in the early modern British Empire and studying holiday traditions in Britain, its former empire, and the U.S.
Publications: Notable monographs include Eating the Empire (2020), The Weight of Vengeance (2012), Making Headlines (2008), and Savages Within the Empire (2005). His work appears in journals like Past & Present and Journal of British Studies.
Awards: Elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (2012).
