Troy A. Richardson is an Associate Professor in the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program at Cornell University. His research focuses on deconstructing colonial philosophies, decolonial ontologies, and relational ethics between Indigenous, settler, and arrivant communities. He directs the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program and teaches courses on decolonial philosophies and colonial dispossession.
Dr. Richardson holds tribal affiliations with the Saponi, Ska:rù:rę' (Tuscarora) nations. His work bridges philosophy of education with Indigenous studies, examining how colonial frameworks continue to impact Indigenous sovereignty and knowledge systems. Recent grants include funding from the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability and the Mellon Foundation for Indigenous language revitalization projects.
He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals such as Educational Theory and Studies in Philosophy and Education, focusing on topics like post-truth discourse, decolonial methodologies, and settler-colonial critiques. His teaching includes advanced courses on Locke's philosophies of dispossession and Indigenous decolonial thought.
