Tristan Poyser

Tristan Poyser is a Lecturer in Photography at Manchester Metropolitan University's School of Digital Arts (SODA). His practice-led research integrates landscape theory, place and identity, and wellbeing through social documentary and participatory photography, informed by his background in Ecology and Biological Photography.

His work spans commercial practice (20+ years) and academic teaching, covering units like Digital Media Technologies and Professional Practice. Recent projects include Bradley Brook, which examines green spaces' impact on mental health, and Masked: A Portrait of Amazon, a collector's edition book. He collaborates with The Lancashire Wildlife Trust on green prescribing initiatives supported by UKRI funding.

His mindful approach combines analogue photography and digital stitching to slow down the creative process, fostering deeper engagement with subjects. Exhibitions of his work have been featured nationally and internationally, including in the Historic England Archive.
