Tristan McKay

Professor Tristan McKay is a Professor in Stem Cell Biology at Manchester Metropolitan University, Department of Life Sciences. He holds an honorary Senior Lecturer title at Queen Mary University of London. His research focuses on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and their application to study neural differentiation and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and lysosomal storage disorders. The McKay Group develops advanced genetic modification tools and models for understanding disease mechanisms and testing therapies. Key areas include iPSC reprogramming, mitochondrial biology, and somatotransgenic bioimaging for real-time disease monitoring.
