Trisha Meyer is an Assistant Professor of Digital Governance and Participation at the Brussels School of Governance, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She leads the Research Centre for Digitalisation, Democracy and Innovation and the BA in Communication and Public Relations. As Research leader at the House of Sustainable Transitions, she focuses on tech platform governance, disinformation, and participatory digital policy. Her work includes the EU-funded EDMO BELUX project countering disinformation in Belgium/Luxembourg and the Sustainable Transitions initiative addressing climate and innovation challenges.
Trained at VUB (PhD/MA), she held senior roles at University of Turku (2013–2015), a Fernandes Fellowship at Warwick (2021), and is a Professorial Fellow at UNU-CRIS. Her research spans platform regulation, copyright, and democratic design, with 94 publications and 175 citations. Awards include FWO Funding (2011) and the Warwick Fernandes Fellowship (2019).
Her advisory and grant work includes 24 supervised theses and leadership in 23 projects, including the ProPA initiative fostering accountability in authoritarian contexts. She actively engages in global policy networks like GigaNet and contributes expert commentary on AI governance, election integrity, and disinformation trends. Her interdisciplinary House of Sustainable Transitions lab integrates climate, innovation, and societal transitions research.
