Trine Pagh Pedersen is a Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Public Health (Statens Institut for Folkesundhed), University of Southern Denmark, specializing in child and adolescent health research. She serves as Project Manager for the Child Health Database collaboration (Databasen Børns Sundhed) established in 2008 and contributes to the long-running Schoolchildren Study (Skolebørnsundersøgelsen) initiated in 1984. Her work bridges research, municipal health services, and public health policy through extensive use of health visitor documentation systems.
Dr. Pedersen's research focuses on child and adolescent health and well-being, with particular expertise in mental health, immigrant health, public health surveillance, and early childhood development. Her work leverages the extensive Child Health Database which collects health visitor observations from birth through school age, examining critical areas including body mass index trajectories, life satisfaction, school satisfaction trends, and health disparities related to socioeconomic status. She employs advanced regression analysis techniques to identify patterns and associations in large population datasets spanning decades.
Her recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate consistent focus on childhood health inequalities, early intervention strategies, and the role of health visitors in municipal health systems. Analysis of her 15 most recent articles reveals strong emphasis on longitudinal data analysis (1991-2025), with particular attention to socioeconomic gradients in health outcomes, gender differences in health behaviors, and critical developmental periods from infancy through adolescence. The research consistently bridges quantitative epidemiology with practical public health applications.
Through her leadership in four active research projects and 27 documented activities including talks and workshops, Dr. Pedersen actively engages with both academic and practical health service communities. Her work has generated significant media attention with 31 press/media appearances, particularly regarding child poverty interventions and overweight prevention in young children, demonstrating her commitment to translating research into public health practice.
