Tricia Breen Carmichael is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor, Canada. Her research focuses on Wearable Electronics and Green Printed Electronics, addressing challenges in flexible, stretchable devices and sustainable manufacturing. She leads the Carmichael Lab, which develops wearable sensors, e-textiles, and biodegradable substrates for smart packaging. Her work emphasizes eco-friendly materials and high-throughput production methods to reduce e-waste.
Dr. Carmichael holds a Ph.D. from the University of Windsor. She has received numerous awards, including the 2023 Mary Lou Dietz Equity Leadership Award and the 2022 NanoOntario Mid-Career Award. Her lab members include graduate students and researchers working on textile-centric electronics and environmental initiatives.
Her research interests span stretchable electronics, smart fabrics, and recyclable materials. Key projects include strain sensors for motion tracking, light-emitting fabrics, and shellac-paper composites for printed circuits. She advocates for equity in STEM, co-organizing Canada’s first LGBTQ+ in STEM conference.
