Trevor Jorgensen serves as Associate Professor of Wind Studies and Area Coordinator for Winds in the Music Department at the State University of New York at Oswego. He directs the Wind Ensemble, teaches applied woodwinds across multiple instruments, and leads the Oswego Jazz Project while lecturing on popular music and jazz history.
His educational foundation includes:
- B.S. in Music Education from the University of Mary
- M.M. in Saxophone Performance from the University of Northern Iowa
- Professional Certificate in Woodwinds from Northern Illinois University
- ABD status on DMA in Music Education from Boston University
Professor Jorgensen maintains dual expertise in classical and jazz performance. His wind performance specialization spans saxophone, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon within orchestral, chamber, and solo contexts. As a dedicated new music advocate, he actively commissions and premieres contemporary works while maintaining strong jazz credentials through performances with renowned artists like Dave Douglas and Rufus Reid.
His notable recognitions include:

- Elmhurst College Jazz Festival Outstanding Soloist Award
Through international engagements across the Czech Republic, South Korea, Argentina, New Zealand, and South Africa, he brings global perspectives to Oswego's wind program. His teaching integrates performance practice with scholarly approaches to music education, particularly evident in his DMA research focus.
He leads the Wind Ensemble and Oswego Jazz Project while mentoring students through applied lessons and chamber coaching, emphasizing both technical mastery and interpretive depth across classical and jazz idioms.
