معرفی
Trevor Caughlin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Boise State University's College of Arts and Sciences. His research lab applies spatial modeling to ecological restoration challenges across diverse biomes.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Biology, University of Florida (2013)
- B.A. in Environmental Studies & Biology, New College of Florida (2007)
Research Focus: Dr. Caughlin's transdisciplinary work integrates remote sensing, spatial statistics, and field ecology to study forest restoration, seed dispersal dynamics, and human-ecosystem interactions. Current projects examine post-wildfire resilience in arid lands and climate impacts on tropical forest succession.
Recent Lab Outputs: Publications include advances in drone-based plant detection (2024), tropical forest vulnerability studies (2024), and wildfire resilience mapping (2024). The lab released extensive ecological datasets covering 10 wildfire sites with >23,000 mapped plants.
Student Advising: Currently mentors undergraduate researcher Amethyst Tagney (NSF REU award recipient) and Master's student Ryan Wickersham (thesis on sagebrush phenology).
Lab Operations: Based in Science Building Room 242a, the team conducts global fieldwork from Idaho deserts to South American rainforests. Contact: trevorcaughlin@boisestate.edu
