Travis Webster

Travis Webster is an Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Writing at Virginia Tech, affiliated with the Department of English within the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. He serves as both Director of the Writing Center and Director of Writing Across the Curriculum. His work focuses on rhetoric, writing pedagogy, and LGBTQA workplace dynamics in academic settings.

Research Interests span rhetoric, cultural rhetorics, writing center theory, and LGBTQA issues in composition pedagogy. He has taught undergraduate writing courses at all levels since 2006 and graduate courses on writing centers, WAC, and cultural rhetorics.

Scientific Awards include:

• Conference on College Composition and Communication’s 2023 Lavender Rhetorics Book Award

His publications appear in College Composition and Communication, Writing Center Journal, and edited collections, with a focus on writing program administration and queer theory in academic spaces.
