Travis Schrank, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the UNC School of Medicine (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill). His research focuses on virology, HPV-associated head and neck cancers, and biomarker development for personalized therapy.
Dr. Schrank’s research explores the molecular mechanisms of HPV-driven carcinogenesis, NRF2 signaling in cancer, and the role of immune-related features in predicting treatment outcomes. His work aims to identify subtypes of HPV+ head and neck cancers to guide therapy intensity and develop molecular tests for HPV integration status.
His recent publications highlight trends in HPV-associated oncogenesis, proteomic quantitation, and biomarker discovery for de-escalated treatment protocols. Collaborations include researchers at UNC and institutions studying head and neck cancer biology.
