Dr. Salway leads the REAFFIRM Collaborative, an interdisciplinary team addressing 2S/LGBTQ+ health disparities, particularly in mental and sexual health. His research spans three core areas: (1) population health inequities linked to social stigma; (2) methodological innovations to correct biases in stigmatized population research; and (3) equity-informed public health service delivery. Recent work includes analyzing the geographic prevalence of conversion therapy and evaluating gender-affirming treatment discontinuation.
His publications highlight the intersection of mental health, sexual health, and structural inequities affecting LGBTQ+ communities. He co-directs the Two-Spirit Dry Lab and founded MindMapBC.ca, a mental health service finder for LGBTQ+ individuals. Dr. Salway also administers the UnACoRN.ca survey to map supportive environments for Canadian youth.
