Travis Legleiter

Travis Legleiter is an Extension Associate Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Kentucky's Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Located at the UK Research and Education Center in Princeton, KY, his work focuses on practical agricultural solutions. He holds a Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Purdue University (2017), an M.S. in Plant, Insect, and Microbial Science from the University of Missouri (2008), and a B.S. in Plant Science from the same institution (2006).

Legleiter's research interests center on weed control in major crops including corn, soybean and wheat, with particular emphasis on managing herbicide-resistant weeds and evaluating herbicide application technologies. His work aims to improve the efficiency of product delivery to target plants through technological innovations in spraying systems.

His 2016 publication examines how spray nozzle design and carrier volume influence herbicide coverage in soybean crops, demonstrating his focus on optimizing application technologies for improved weed management outcomes.

He has received recognition including the Outstanding Graduate Student award from the North Central Weed Science Society and the Early Career Award from the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Specialist Association.
