Dr Travis Curtice is an Assistant Professor in Drexel University's Department of Politics and faculty affiliate at the Center for Public Policy. His research examines state repression, policing dynamics in authoritarian regimes, and the political economy of conflict.
Curtice investigates how authoritarian governments use police for repression while maintaining public order, with field research focused on Uganda. His work analyzes how repression impacts police legitimacy, public trust, and citizen cooperation with security institutions.
Recent publications examine ethnic bias in policing, pandemic-era repression, electoral violence monitoring, and human rights trade sanctions. His research combines experimental methods with field research to analyze security sector dynamics in hybrid regimes.
