Tracey Quigley Holden

Tracey Quigley Holden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Delaware. She holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Public Address from Penn State University (2005), an M.A. from San Diego State University, and a B.A. from Texas A&M University. Her teaching focuses on oral communication, public speaking, and business communication, with pedagogical experience in intercultural communication for military personnel and summer programs at Stanford/Princeton.

Holden's research emphasizes organizational/political communication with a focus on the American military, social movements (e.g., Black Lives Matter, Arab Spring), leadership (especially female leadership), and civic engagement. She joined UD's Communication Department in 2010 as director of the oral communication program.

Her scholarship spans military rhetoric, crisis communication, and gendered leadership, with notable works analyzing military dissent narratives, organizational behavior under stress, and global curriculum development. Teaching philosophy prioritizes interdisciplinary approaches, civic responsibility, and empowering students' intellectual growth through multimedia engagement.
