Dr. Tracey Chan is an Assistant Professor and Interim Director of the Nurse Practitioner Program at Oakland University's School of Nursing. She holds a PhD in Nursing from Duquesne University (2019), MSN from Madonna University (2006), and BSN from Oakland University (1999). Her clinical expertise focuses on adult primary care, particularly with vulnerable populations. Dr. Chan is a recognized leader in nurse practitioner education, serving as Chair of the Curricular Leadership Committee at the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) and Chair of the NP Education Enhancement Committee at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She led the development of the 'Competency Implementation Guide for Nurse Practitioner Faculty' and has contributed to preceptor resource development.
Her research emphasizes competency-based education, entrustable professional activities (EPAs), and chronic disease management. She has secured grants including the $20,000 Francis Fund Telehealth Learning Center (2020–2022) and the $2,000 Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association Foundation grant for Dementia Care Simulation (2023–2024). Dr. Chan is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (2024) and actively reviews for the Journal of Doctoral Nursing Practice.
Professionally, she contributes to organizations like NONPF, Sigma Theta Tau, AANP, and GAPNA. Her presentations span competency frameworks, preceptor training, and gerontological nursing education innovations, demonstrating her commitment to advancing nursing practice and education through evidence-based strategies.
