Totka Monova

Prof. Totka Monova serves as Professor of Press Communication - Journalistic Genres at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski's Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, Department of Press Journalism and Book Publishing since 2013. With continuous full-time faculty status since 1983 (promoted from assistant to chief assistant professor in 1990, then Associate Professor in 2000), she maintains active university governance through membership in the General Assembly since 1999.

Her research centers on media text analysis and political discourse, with specialization in:

• Reflexive journalism frameworks
• Totalitarian discourse in Balkan media
• Transmedia text evolution
• Genre theory applications in journalism

Analysis of her 9 documented publications (1991-2014) reveals consistent focus on Bulgarian political discourse during transitional periods, particularly examining press freedom constraints and corporate media influences in post-communist contexts.
