Torumoy Ghoshal

Torumoy Ghoshal is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Data Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Previously, he held a Visiting Assistant Professor position at Lyon College, where he pioneered their data science program. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering Science (Computer Science major) from the University of Mississippi in 2020. His research focuses on feature engineering, deep learning, natural language processing, and bioinformatics applications.

Dr. Ghoshal has industry experience at Dow Jones, developing machine learning models for journalists and the ad-tech team. He advises undergraduate and graduate students on interdisciplinary data science and computer science projects. His work bridges computational methods with real-world applications in healthcare and journalism.
