Torben Martinussen is a Professor in Biostatistics at the Department of Public Health, Section of Biostatistics, University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He has held this position since 2010, following professorships at the University of Southern Denmark (2008-2010) and The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (1997-2008).
- Ph.D. in Biostatistics, University of Copenhagen (1998)
- M.Sc. in Statistics, University of Copenhagen (1992)
Professor Martinussen's research centers on causal inference, survival analysis, and instrumental variables. He has made significant contributions to the development of the Aalen additive hazards model and related methodologies, with over 166 research outputs including 137 journal articles and 2 books. His book "Dynamic regression models for survival data" (2006) is particularly influential in the field.
His publication record reveals a consistent focus on advancing statistical methodologies for survival data analysis, with increasing emphasis on causal inference techniques, high-dimensional data challenges, and missing covariate scenarios. The high citation counts on papers like "Instrumental variable estimation in a survival context" (155 citations) demonstrate the impact of his work.
- Associate editor Biometrika (2008-2012)
- Associate editor Biometrics (2016-present)
- Associate editor Scandinavian Journal of Statistics (2003-2008)
Professor Martinussen teaches a range of courses including Causal Inference I & II, Survival Analysis at basic and advanced levels, Epidemiology, and Statistics for Veterinarians, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of his expertise and the broad application of his research.
